There's much to do on Hatteras Island. Beachcombing for miles; diving under the breakers; fishing at Cape Point and Hatteras Point; watching the porpoise and pelicans do their "shore patrol" routines; exploring the Sound; climbing the lighthouse; and visiting the shops (tackle, clothing, doodads ...) are some memorable ways to enjoy your visit to Avon and the Outer Banks. Relaxing on the upper deck at night is a favorite activity, too, as there are few other places on the east coast of North America where the stars are seen so clearly!
